Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 21st June 2024
Closes: 4th July 2024
Job Ref: 029224

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Marketing, Recruitment & Admissions Directorate, working in the Admissions team. This role will have a focus on applications for our new School of Medicine but work on other subject areas will be required.

We are delighted to be launching our new four-year graduate entry medical programme and will be accepting applications for students starting in autumn 2024. Our innovative programme will equip students with the knowledge and skills required to practise medicine in a modern healthcare environment. Throughout their studies, they develop essential skills in the application of digital health and technology, and benefit from authentic interprofessional learning.

As an Admissions Officer, you will be part of a friendly team responsible for reviewing applications, planning and running selection events where required and making decisions consistently and fairly against pre-defined entry criteria. You will often be the first point of contact for applicants, responding to admissions-related enquiries and providing high levels of customer service in a timely and professional manner. Contact with applicants and prospective applicants could be via email, phone or web chat.

Applicants look to the University of Surrey as a world-leading educational establishment, and you will deal with applications from around the globe. You will have extensive contact with applicants and staff at a variety of levels within the University, and external contact with other bodies such as UCAS, ECCTIS and the UKVI.

In addition to these duties, you will have the opportunity to participate in University Applicant Days, Open Days and other external recruitment events as required.

You will need excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work quickly and accurately. You should possess good IT skills, including familiarity with MS Office. Experience of working with University student record systems, and in the field of Higher Education is desirable but not essential. We encourage applications from candidates outside of the Higher Education sector where they can demonstrate the skills needed to succeed in this role.

We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic and responsible person, with the ability to work both as an effective team member and independently.

The Admissions office is currently working in a hybrid pattern with two days in the office and three days working from home. There may be times where you are required to be in the office for more than two days per week, particularly during the busy results period in August.

In addition to a competitive salary, you will receive 32 days annual leave/closure days and a great benefits package including pension and discounted membership to our world-renowned Surrey Sports Park.
