The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research.
We are ambitious and have a bold vision of what we want to achieve - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world, which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee.
Our culture empowers people to achieve this aim and to collectively, and individually, make a real difference.
The role
Guildford School of Acting at the University of Surrey is a top UK conservatoire with a vibrant community of performers, creatives, and technicians. Offering undergraduate and postgraduate training, GSA also runs a Junior Conservatoire, a Saturday School, and various short courses. GSA delivers 30 plus student assessed productions each year, ranging from small scale black box to fully realised staged performances in theatre spaces both on and off campus, as well as a number of filmed Showcases.
We are seeking a motivated and pro-active Administrator to join our Operations and Events team. This is a maternity cover, fixed term contract. The GSA Administrator plays a vital student, staff and public facing role and is essential to the smooth and efficient running of operations at GSA.
Based in the GSA building on the Stag Hill campus (located in the foyer, a lively space with a café, and hub of the GSA community), the post holder's responsibilities include arranging rights and royalties for GSA productions, coordinating the distribution of scripts, scores and locker keys and assisting with the awarding of scholarships and bursaries.
The Administrator looks after external and internal bookings and supports a wide range of events both on and off campus, monitoring teaching spaces and public areas, ensuring studio facilities are fit for purpose, and they are the first point of contact for all visitors to the GSA building, dealing with post, email, in person and phone enquiries.
The Administrator also acts as Fire Marshal and a First Aider.
About you
You will be a team player, but comfortable working as an individual and on your own initiative, you will have relevant administrative experience, excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and work consistently to high levels of accuracy. You will be required to work proactively within established processes and procedures and with minimum day to day supervision. Your role will bring you into regular contact with students and colleagues at GSA and across the University and external contacts.
