About the role
We are looking for a Lecturer in Special and Inclusive Education, including potential to take a programme leadership role in due course.
We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with expertise in physical and sensory needs and/or social, emotional and behavioural development in relation to inclusion.
The MASIE programme is a ‘flagship’ of our inclusive education focus. It has historically recruited around 70 students annually, a mix of part-time and full-time students, and including amongst others, experienced teachers in the London area and overseas students with a range of backgrounds. In addition, the candidate may teach corresponding topics on our BPS accredited undergraduate programme Psychology with Education.
Knowledge of either or both qualitive or quantitative methods, with a history of high-quality research and publication is required to support us in our teaching and supervision of students at Undergraduate and Masters level. As a highly research-engaged scholar in inclusive and special education, you will have clear potential for contributing strongly to our future REF submissions. You will also contribute to the departments’ commitment to open science and support our actions towards decolonising the curriculum. Congruent with this, you will be a valuable addition to our world-class research and knowledge exchange culture.
This post is available from 1 January 2025 - interviews will be held in September 2024 (date to be confirmed).
About you
You will hold an earned doctorate in education, psychology or a closely related area with a strong research profile, reflected in publications in high quality journals and suitable for inclusion in Research Excellence Framework evaluations. Potential for future REF 3 and – 4 level contributions and social impact.
A track record of contributing to supervision of PhD students is desirable.
Your application form should address all the person specification points and should clearly demonstrate how your skills and experience meet each of the criteria.
It is important that the criteria are clearly numbered and that you provide a response to each one.
