- THE ROLE -

Ulster University is working with fourteen institutions in three jurisdictions on the large-scale Co-Centre for Climate + Biodiversity + Water project. The project is jointly funded by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development in Northern Ireland, Science Foundation Ireland, and UK Research and Innovation.

The post holder will develop research and knowledge exchange on a working upland farm as part of a Monitoring and Modelling Platform in the Co-Centre. The data generated will be crucial for developing Northern Ireland’s peatland strategies, providing an evidence base for net zero policy reviews, and supporting the development of results based agri-environmental schemes.

We may create a 12-month waiting list for same or similar roles within the Department / Faculty. The University reserves the right to extend the waiting list across the University if required for certain posts.

- ABOUT YOU -

The postholder will be required to have:

- A First or Upper second-class honours degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geography or a related discipline.
- A Higher degree (completed or within the last 6 months of completion) in a subject that includes an aspect of catchment science/hydrology/hydrochemistry/peatland science or similar.
- Practical experience of safe experimental fieldwork relating to research in peatland environments.
