The Blended Learning Service works collaboratively across the University with academics and professional staff in support of teaching, learning, and assessment to further institutional developments in digital and blended learning. Further engagement with students and relevant groups within the institution is vital to provide effective and relevant learning design, technological, and pedagogical guidance.

The Role:

The Blended Learning Design & Development Specialist will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of teaching support, guidance, and staff development relating to digital and blended learning at the University. The team will be based in Education Services but will be required to work closely with Schools, Faculties, Departments, Colleges, senior stakeholders, and various committees and working groups as required. The purpose of the role is to coordinate the service's approach to staff development and training in support of achieving an outstanding quality of digital and blended provision across the University. Engaging with academics, senior stakeholders, students, and professional support staff to aid in the design and development of these experience and supervising the work of learning designers and learning technologists in achieving these outcomes.

The role will provide flexible hybrid working, however, regular visits on site are required of the role so commuting or relocating may be necessary. __Your Skills:__

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to explain concepts and complex information to non - experts, develop and encourage the commitment to learn in others and to present material to a range of audiences.
  • Demonstrable highly advanced knowledge of teaching of a particular subject involving a critical understanding of relevant theory and/or principles outside of the immediate specialism.
  • Ability to understand the pedagogical theories and technical issues associated with online/blended teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of accessibility issuers and inclusive teaching and learning/universal design.
