The Sports Service is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Physical Activity and Sports Assistant to join its team! This exciting new role will support the ongoing development of our Active Staff programme in line with Sports Service and University strategic priorities.
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to provide welcoming, inclusive and accessible activity opportunities for staff. They will also support delivery of the Active Students and Active Community programmes.
Applicants should be educated to A-Level, or have the equivalent practical/industry experience. They should also hold a range of sports coaching and/or leadership qualifications and be confident enough to run physical activity sessions for groups.
Applicants should have experience of planning, organising and facilitating group sessions for participants with different levels of playing experience, confidence and fitness. They should be able to communicate effectively, manage their own time, take initiative and review/amend activities in response to participant engagement and feedback.
The role supporting our Active Staff programme is available part-time (0.5 FTE/18.5 hours per week). Applications for 0.8 FTE or full-time will also be considered. However, candidates should note that any additional hours beyond 0.5 FTE would be allocated to delivery of the Active Students and Active Community programmes. The hours will be variable and include a mix of daytime, evening and weekend work to facilitate delivery of physical activity programmes and attend events.
