About us

The Department of Informatics is looking to recruit a full-time Senior Programme Officer to support the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught Programmes. This role would suit an experienced administrator ready for the next stage in their career.

The Senior Programme Officer provides essential support to students and academics, working as part of the programmes team to ensure that high quality administrative and student support is provided from enrolment to graduation. Having line management responsibilities for Programme Officers, the role holder is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of programme administration of several courses and ensuring tasks are carried out to a high level of accuracy.

About the role

The role includes resolving complex queries and issues and will specifically focus on completing assessment-related activities such as assessment planning and overseeing the management of misconduct and mitigating circumstances processes during the teaching and assessment life cycle. The role will involve a varied workload to support colleagues during busy periods, which will provide opportunities to further develop your knowledge of regulations and contribute to professional networks promoting best practice.

This is currently a hybrid role, and the role holder will spend part of their working week on campus and part of the week working remotely. On campus days are allocated via a rota and requirements may differ at busy times of year.

This is a full time (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: 

Essential criteria

  1. Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to draft documents and correspondence autonomously to a broad range of audiences.
  2. Strong numeracy skills and ability to analyse complex numerical data.
  3. Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure to complete a range of competing priorities, whilst maintaining accuracy.
  4. Excellent IT skills, including knowledge of Office 365 Word, Excel and Outlook and associated platforms like SharePoint.
  5. Experience in the use of databases and student records systems (such as SITS) to provide management information data to a high level of detail and accuracy.
  6. Experience of stakeholder management, ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders in a professional and assured manner.
  7. Experience of working in a customer-facing environment with knowledge of how to address complaints and service setbacks professionally and efficiently.
  8. Collaborative, proactive and relationship-oriented approach to teamwork, with the ability to also work independently.

Desirable criteria

  1. Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or experience.
  2. Experience of higher education programme administration, supporting the delivery of taught programmes.
  3. Experience of using virtual learning environments.
  4. Experience in supervising, overseeing or line managing others.
  5. Experience supporting assessment-related processes.
