Assistant Operations, Resources and Facilities Manager

Attenborough Centre for Creative Arts (ACCA) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced operations manager to support our small team in delivering exceptional service and ensuring the smooth operation of our venue. 

This key role involves managing daily operations (administrative functions and facilities management - including ongoing building maintenance and catering functions). The role will work closely with the Creative Director to continue to develop ACCA as a safe, welcoming and accessible environment, which supports the strategic objectives of University of Sussex.

You will:

  • Lead and manage a small team to achieve aims and objectives aligned with ACCA’s strategy and operational plan.
  • Ensure a safe and efficient working environment, adhering to Health & Safety standards.
  • Oversee building maintenance, liaise with the catering provider, coordinate bookings and enquiries, financial operations and budget reconciliation.
  • Implement and improve systems and procedures to support effective administration.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide insightful reports to inform decision-making.
  • Provide and plan training and coaching for team members.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholder to enhance service delivery.
  • Develop and implement best practices in accessibility and welcome for all users of the building, including academic staff, students, external hirers and visiting artists and companies.

Qualifications and Experiences

  • Proven experience in operations management, preferably in an arts or cultural setting.
  • Strong managerial skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working with financial software – raising purchase orders and processing invoices.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including, but not limited to, Health & Safety regulation and GDPR compliance.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to accessibility and inclusivity in service delivery.
