Are you an experienced Health and Safety professional ready to make an impact in education? Join our team and help create a safe, sustainable environment for our students, staff, and visitors. We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Officer to support our Head of Health & Safety in developing and maintaining comprehensive health and safety systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice to Senior Managers to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Inform the College of changes in Health and Safety laws and guidelines.
  • Monitor and report on the College’s statutory health and safety obligations.
  • Conduct annual health and safety audits across all departments.
  • Plan and deliver health and safety training for all staff.
  • Coordinate first aid supplies and rotas, with regular training updates.
  • Review and update Health and Safety Policies and Procedures annually.
  • Act as the College’s representative with external health and safety bodies.
  • Advise Curriculum Managers on safety practices and compliance.
  • Organise and oversee the first-aid service.
  • Develop and implement risk assessment procedures.
  • Maintain accurate health and safety records.
  • Review and approve educational trip applications.
  • Advise and participate in the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Assist in accident investigations and insurance claims processes.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Evidence of relevant CPD.
  • Degree level education or equivalent (preferred).
  • Experience in managing health and safety systems in a large organization.
  • NEBOSH Diploma holder or working towards it.
  • Graduate member of IOSH.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • IT skills at level 2 or above
