Based at St. Albans campus with travel to Welwyn Garden City and Borehamwood
We are seeking a talented and experienced IT Systems and Network Engineer (3rd Line) to join our existing IT Solutions Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supporting education focussed applications alongside strong capabilities in implementing and supporting Microsoft Server, VMware and Aruba networking solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide third line IT support to achieve the objectives of the department
• Support colleagues with first- and second-line support remotely and in person as needed.
• Act as a key point of contact for third party IT Infrastructure and systems support, upgrades and installations
• Lead on maintenance, configuration, installation of key IT platform systems and hardware and ensure all IT colleagues are aware of relevant events, issues and good practice
• Ensure methods of user account and security management are robust, fit for purpose and secure.
• Lead and promote cyber security best practices.
• Work collaboratively with IT colleagues on IT infrastructure and systems projects through the entirety of the IT project lifecycle
• Contribute expertise in supporting, designing and developing the College’s IT infrastructure and systems, including storage, servers, virtualisation, network services and user directories.
Required Skills:
Essential
• ITIL Foundation or equivalent experience in an SLA based IT service environment
• Degree level IT qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant technical experience
• Experience leading technical projects
• In depth understanding and experience managing a medium sized Microsoft based networked environment including Windows Server 2016 onwards and Microsoft 365 (Entra ID) experience
• Experience of VMWare and Hyper-V virtualisation technologies.
Desirable
• Knowledge of networking concepts
• Knowledge of Android and iOS device management
