Associate Professor in Structural Modelling and Digitalization for Wind Energy Applications

Is your dream job to do research in structural modeling using cutting-edge digital technologies? Then the new scientist position at DTU might be what you are looking for. The position will strengthen the department’s research in structural virtual testing and digitization to reduce the need for expensive and time-consuming physical testing while increasing the value of those physical tests of wind turbine structural components.

Responsibilities and qualifications

You are expected to work on the following topics:

  • Numerical modeling and simulations of wind turbine structural components with a focus on structural damage and failure assessment
  • Develop the key enabling technologies to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of structural digital representation for smart structural health management
  • Development of numerical tools to create research impact on the wind energy industry
  • Development of research projects, writing project applications to acquire external funding
  • Teach and supervise MSc students and thesis projects
  • Supervise/co-supervise PhD-students
  • Guide and supervise assistant professors and researchers
  • Innovation and collaboration with industry

Preference will be given to applicants that can document:

  • Successful funding acquisition and project management
  • Experience in leadership in the research context
  • Experience in high-performance computing
  • Experience in Application Programming Interface (API) and code developer platforms
  • Experience in finite element methods of composite and/or metal structures
  • Experience in experimental work such as using sensor technologies
  • Experience in state-of-the-art digital technologies such as machine learning
  • Ability to work with other researchers, engineers, and technicians

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The starting date of the position is September 1, 2024, or according to the agreement.
