Do you want to contribute to an increased sustainability in industry and society by applying your knowledge of mechatronics and mechanical engineering to applied research and engineering education?

We invite you to join our section Mechanical Technology, where you will have colleagues with a mix of research and industry experience. Our section consists of eight employees with a combined workload of teaching and research and with a plan to hire several new colleagues in the coming years. Currently, we are undergoing a transformation with increased focus on research, so with us you get the chance to start a research group within mechatronics and mechanical engineering – as well as to support our existing activities within materials research. We work with a range of materials, but mainly polymers, in terms of characterization, recycling, virgin compositions, etc.

You will be part of the section’s vision of striving to be a recognized player within the fields of mechanical and materials engineering to provide solutions, and work at implementations, for the industry and society in the transition towards increased sustainability. Currently, our team have competences ranging from a wide range of fields including materials, applied polymer science, materials recycling, drones, and automation as wells as energy and thermodynamics. To build on this, we are looking for an assistant or associate professor that will take the lead on research and teaching within mechatronics. This could for example be within the following topics:

  • Autonomous robots
  • Dynamics and vibration theory
  • Industrial control systems and automation
  • Machine learning and AI

This list is not extensive, and applications within the broad and combined fields of mechatronics and mechanical engineering are welcomed. We are particularly interested in research peers interested in interdisciplinary work that form overlaps to our various fields, and hence support our collaborative nature. Experience in collaboration with industry and the ability to define the applicability of your research as cornerstones in your scientific career are valued.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your overall focus will be to strengthen our education and research in the broad field of mechanical engineering. We expect you to be strong team player and use your skills in expanding our research efforts within the section, helping in bridging the gap between fundamental research and the application in industry. To do so, you will:

  • Develop the section’s research field by defining ideas and concepts for future projects
  • Write and collaborate on research proposals, incl. PhD projects
  • Conduct and (in time) lead research projects on an international scale
  • (Co-)supervise PhD students and Postdoc fellows
  • Deliver teaching in courses at both basic and advanced levels.
  • Supervision of thesis projects at BEng and MSc levels

You put a high degree of responsibility in your teaching and manage to make it research-based, but yet applicable to our students. As such, you will contribute to the section’s teaching within, but not all of, the following topics:

  • Control theory and industrial automation.
  • Mechatronics and robotics.
  • Dynamics.
  • Programming.

Application procedure
Please submit your online application no later than 11 August 2024 (23:59 Danish time).
