At DTU Sustain you work at the forefront of science providing solutions to major societal challenges related to climate change, circularity, sustainability, and environmental quality.

Team players in environmental engineering

Your overall focus will be to strengthen DTU Sustain’s competences within the areas of soil & groundwater remediation and risk assessment of contaminated sites. You will work in our section of Environmental Contamination & Chemicals dealing with groundwater, hydrogeology, groundwater-surface water interaction, risk assessment and sustainable mitigation of contamination sources and numerical modeling. You will interact with academia, public authorities, consultants, and industrial partners in Denmark as well as abroad.

We expect that you have a strong Danish and/or international platform within environmental microbiology and chemistry with an engineering (or similar) background in water resources, soil-groundwater systems, contaminant hydrogeology, environmental microbiology and chemistry. Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Teach and supervise BSc and MSc student projects, and be co-supervisor for PhD students covering a broad of range of topics related to groundwater contamination 
  • Perform research at an international level in the interdisciplinary areas of contaminant hydrogeology and environmental chemistry with particular focus on transport and fate of organic chemicals arising from contaminated sites.
  • Develop concepts and technologies for sustainable soil and groundwater remediation
  • Build up, develop and contribute with new approaches and methods (laboratory, field), process understanding, and conceptual models. 
  • Contribute to research in the group and with colleagues in the environmental chemistry, water resources, urban water area, and other related fields

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
