Applications are invited for a Research Assistant position at the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading for a Healthcare Innovation Partnership funded multisite project with the Dingley Children Centre investigating sleep and mental health in pre-school children with autism and their families.

You should have i) a degree in Psychology or related field ii) prior experience in working with autistic children and/or their families, and iii) some experience of conducting research.

The postholder will be involved in all aspects of the project. Primary responsibilities include liaising with the clinical team and families, organising visits, and administering a testing battery with the young autistic child. The postholder will receive supervision from the wider the research team, which includes researchers and clinicians at the University of Reading (Dr. Teresa Tavassoli and Prof Bhismadev Chakrabarti) and Dingley Centre, the regional NHS hub for developmental conditions (Catherine Hagan). The empirical work will be carried out at the University of Reading.

In order to be successful you will have:

  • A proven track record of working with autistic children and some research experience. Knowledge of testing young children and experimental methods is essential.
  • A clean driving license and means of transport to visit families in their homes if needed.
  • Requisite skills for handling and analysing data (e.g. Excel, SPSS/JASP/Jamovi).

The post is a fixed-term contract for 21 months.
