DTU invites applications for a full professorship in transport behaviour modelling. The professorship is affiliated with DTU’s Department of Technology, Management, and Economics in the Division of Transportation Science.
The division has strong domain knowledge of the transport sector and mobility and is—with its broad coverage of disciplines—an internationally outstanding unit in the field of transportation science. We deliver research-based insights and tools to policymakers and industry professionals. The overarching focus is the understanding of human behaviour when planning and operating transportation systems and formulating policies and regulations. Travel and human behaviour are embedded in our research on transport systems and mobility prediction models. Our research creates a foundation for policy support related to a variety of challenges in the sector, such as the green transition, mobility for all user groups, congestion, and challenged land use, particularly in large cities; equity, safety, and risk; and derived negative externalities of transport.
The division is interdisciplinary with scholars from Transportation Engineering, Economics, Psychology, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, and Statistics.
The position is a full-time position. The expected start date is during the fall of 2024, but we are flexible on the start date.
Responsibilities and qualifications
We are looking for a professor who can build a strong research team to advance transport modelling research and practice, including improved understanding of mobility behaviour and the underlying human behaviour, preferences, and choices.
We expect the candidate to exhibit academic leadership, attract funding, strengthen scientific advice, take on a leading role in building the teaching portfolio in the area, and build a fruitful environment based on the professorship. Particular focus will be on our public sector support and societal impact.
You will bring the following:
You are expected to take a leading role in teaching at the BSc, MSc, PhD and executive levels. Candidates must be enthusiastic about teaching and interacting with students at different levels and should have a successful track record of supervising bachelor and master students, as well as postdocs, and possibly senior executives.
DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.
