We have an opportunity for a Research Associate in Work and Employment to support research projects related to (a) underemployment and (b) transitions in the labour market. The first project will examine the consequences of time-related and skills-related underemployment for workers’ subjective and objective wellbeing and job satisfaction, their opportunities to gain skills and experience, and their ability to progress in their careers. The second project will examine different types of labour market transition, with a particular focus on young people. The latter project relates to ESRC-funded research that is currently being undertaken at the University of Sheffield.
The successful applicant will be responsible for data collection and analysis and for identifying and reviewing relevant literature. They will also have opportunities to co-author research-based outputs, such as articles for peer reviewed journals. Both projects will involve the use of large-scale official datasets and the ideal applicant will therefore have experience of using such datasets and have highly-develop quantitative research skills.
The successful applicant will help build upon the strong achievements of the Management School’s Centre for Decent Work in relation to research, knowledge exchange and research impact. Further information about CDW is available at: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/cdw
