In an ever developing world, the learning process should never stop. Our broad portfolio of full-time and part-time programmes cover the full pathway, from undergraduate to PhD/EngD, as well as short courses and executive education.
Our tutors and professors are leaders in their field and have industry experience. Our programmes are informed by our latest research, and reviewed by industry partners, ensuring that we are teaching the skills that our students will need to succeed in the global market.
WMG Academy for Young Engineers
The first WMG Academy opened in Coventry in 2014, with a second due to open in Solihull in 2016. Catering for 14-18 year olds in the region, students gain the skills they need to become the UK's future inventors and engineers. Supported by some of the largest employers in the region, the curriculum is dynamic, underpinned by a radical learning and teaching approach designed around the needs of both students and employers. Students are prepared both academically, and practically, for their future careers, ensuring they gain the skills that employers need.
Full-time undergraduate engineering programmes
Our undergraduate courses are delivered through a strategic partnership between WMG and the School of Engineering, meaning our students benefit from the expertise and facilities of two departments and a unified approach to teaching. WMG leads three degree courses:
- BEng, MEng Automotive Engineering
- BEng Engineering Business Management
- BEng, MEng Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering
Part-time undergraduate engineering programme
Our pioneering ‘Applied Engineering Programme’ (AEP) allows participants to study for a Bachelor's in Engineering while in full-time employment or as part of a Higher Apprenticeship. Delivered on a modular basis, the programme is designed for companies wishing to support the development of their employees, and to embed the skills they learn back into the business.
Full-time MSc programmes
Attracting over 700 students each year, from over 60 countries, these one year Master’s programmes deliver a top class management education with real business and industry application.
Professional and Executive Education Programmes
Delegates on these programmes have professional experience in a range of technology and manufacturing led industries and are supported by their companies to study with us on a part-time basis. Ensuring benefit to both employer and employee, our programmes are developed in partnership with industry. From short courses up to MScs, we also create and deliver custom programmes both in the UK and overseas.
Doctoral training
We offer PhD studentships across all of our research groups. We also offer the EngD and EngD International qualification through our International Doctorate Centre in High Value, Low Environmental Impact Manufacturing, and our EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing.
Overseas teaching centres
Through our partner centres in India, China, Malaysia, Cyprus, Singapore, Thailand and Turkey, we deliver WMG postgraduate programmes overseas. Modules are tailored to meet local needs but are delivered by visiting WMG staff.
