The Bodleian Libraries is looking for enthusiastic team players interested in delivering exemplary customer service to join our dedicated Front of House team. As a Visitor Host, you will work with a diverse range of people from varied backgrounds, delivering a world-class service for every visitor.
Putting visitors first, you will pride yourself on delivering engaging and informative guided tours to an international audience whilst proactively promoting and selling the Bodleian’s range of public offers. You will have experience of working confidently under pressure in a customer-focused environment. You will be able to communicate clearly with an ability to relate to visitors of all ages and nationalities.
This role involves working to a daily staffing schedule where you will be required to move around the different service point positions, walk groups around the site on guided tours, and lift and move lightweight equipment.
This is a permanent post, with 5 part-time vacancies ranging from 10hrs per week to 28hrs per week working across a 2-week rota. All vacancies include working at least one weekend day per week.
About You
You will have previous experience working in a busy, customer-facing role, with clear and confident verbal communication skills that allow you to engage effectively with visitors of all ages and nationalities. You will have a proven track record of delivering engaging guided tours to groups, demonstrating a natural ability to connect with audiences and adapt your approach as needed. A genuine interest in history and heritage will underpin your work, helping you bring stories and spaces to life in a meaningful and accessible way.
