With continued growth and a range of new UG and PG programmes, the Law School at the University of Huddersfield has an exciting opportunity to invest in its future by appointing a new member of staff as a Lecturer in Law.
Sitting within the School of Business, Education and Law, the Law School has its own dedicated Moot Court, runs a successful pro-bono Legal Advice Clinic, has submitted to the Research Excellence Framework for the first time and has excellent professional links at a regional and national level. The Law School is in the process of establishing a new Centre for Law, Environment and Rights (CLEAR) which has an open approach to research that supports work across a broad range of relevant topics, as well as encouraging innovative research methods to enhance the quality of research.
You will join a growing, vibrant and friendly team dedicated to providing an excellent student experience while contributing to a growing research culture designed to encourage high quality publications and impact. Our core values include working together in a mutually supportive way and having a diligent approach to our work with a professional work ethic.
You will have expertise in International Criminal Law, with the ability to teach Mooting/Advocacy, Law of Evidence and International Human Rights; or alternatively expertise in Law of Torts and Medical Law and an ability to teach Mental Health Law would be an advantage.
If appointed, you are expected to contribute to research led teaching in your area of expertise and towards the next REF application.
With a PhD in Law or equivalent, (or close to completion i.e. being able to submit within 6 months of appointment), you should have a teaching qualification/Fellowship of Advance HE (formerly HEA) or will be required to obtain this within 12 months of appointment.
Applications are welcomed from legal practitioners able to meet the essential criteria.
We offer an attractive benefits and reward package, including a competitive salary, a generous pension scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of opportunities to support your personal and professional development.
The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging.
