The School of Law seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Criminal Law (Learning, Teaching and Scholarship Track).
We teach Criminal Law and Evidence both to students studying for the Scots law LLB and to students on our Common Law LLB programme. This teaching includes both foundational subjects and advanced modules in criminal law, criminal justice and related subjects as part of the final years of our four-year honours degree programme.
We also have a vibrant community of research students in the field and an active research group currently consisting of nine academic staff.
We welcome applicants with expertise either in Scots law or in the common law tradition (broadly defined) in criminal law (including criminal procedure and criminal evidence).
The successful applicant will contribute to the suite of courses offered by the School in the subject area, with the exact contribution depending on their own expertise and experience.
The School of Law is ranked 44th amongst law schools globally in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025. It is a centre for innovative world leading research and excellence in education. We are proud to be an international law school with a rich heritage. The appointment is for 18 months with a start date of 1st September 2025.
