About the Role
A Project Manager is wanted to coordinate and develop a Controlled Human Challenge Infection Model (CHIM) for hepatitis C virus (CHIM). This model would be the first-ever controlled human infection model for a blood-borne virus and will accelerate the development of HCV vaccines and eliminate HCV globally.
Project partners include Imperial College (UK) and Ghent (Belgium). The study is funded by philanthropic donation.
About You
You will support the development of the CHIM study protocols. In addition, you will support the establishment of a forum of stakeholders including those from HCV patient groups, ethicists, hepatologists, clinical virologists and scientists, and will work closely with 1DaySooner (https://www.1daysooner.org/), a non-profit organization that supports CHIMs. You will leverage the ethical and regulatory framework established at the University of Oxford and Imperial College, advising on the wider ethics of human challenge experiments, including those already developed for malaria, RSV, tuberculosis and salmonella which follow similar principles of challenge followed by effective treatment to minimise or eliminate chances of harm.
You will hold a graduate degree, have previous experience of working in the NHS in a research capacity, and an understanding of the governance frameworks in the UK for interventional studies. You will also have project management experience including in managing complex projects with changing demands. You will have the ability to work independently, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and communicate effectively with people at all levels. Candidates with e laboratory experience are especially desirable.
Applications are also welcomed from candidates who do not fulfil the essential criteria and would be appointed at Grade 7 (£38,674 - £46,913 p.a.) with adjusted responsibilities.
