Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a strong background in model theory? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities?
We are looking for a Research Fellow to join our EPSRC-funded project “Model theory, Diophantine geometry and combinatorics”, led by Dr Pantelis Eleftheriou.
As part of the project, you will work on the boundary of model theory, group theory and geometry to develop new insights about definable groups, Diophantine problems (around Pila-Wilkie) and graph-combinatorial conjectures (such as Zarankiewich, Erdős-Hajnal).
In particular, you will consider those problems in various tame expansions of o-minimal structures (such as those having o-minimal open core, d-minimal structures, distal structures, H-structures, lovely pairs, RCVFs, and CODFs), or other ordered abelian groups, and explore the transferring of tools from those settings to the general NIP setting (Not the Independence Property).
We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
