Currently located in the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Experimental Psychology will be moving to the new, purpose-built Life and Mind Building (Home | The Life and Mind Building (ox.ac.uk)) a multidisciplinary research and teaching facility due to open in the summer of 2025
We are seeking a motivated and talented Research Assistant to work with Dr Fei-Yang Huang and Dr Fabian Grabenhorst to play a key role in research on neurophysiology of learning and decision-making from nutrient rewards in animals (NHPs). The research is supported by the Wellcome Trust.
The post is funded for one year and is offered on a full-time basis.
The role will involve a range of activities including assisting the Principal Investigators to ensure the smooth running of the research studies; data management and analysis; contributing to scientific reports and journal articles and the presentation of data/papers at conferences.
The successful candidate will hold a first degree in neuroscience, psychology, clinical medicine (Doctor of Medicine) with experience of research in behavioural neuroscience, experimental psychology, or a related field involving nonhuman primates, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications. They will be familiar with reward and decision neuroscience, neuroeconomics, and basic techniques in primate neurophysiology. Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are also required. Proficiency in one of the computer languages (eg MATLAB, C, Python etc) and basic training in animal research-related procedures would be an advantage.
