About us 

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Knowledge Mobilisation (KM) specialist to lead development and delivery of KM strategy and activities for the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration, South London (ARC-SL). The successful candidate will join a thriving Policy Research Unit specialising in health and social care workforce research, based at The Policy Institute, King’s College London. The Policy Institute is a dynamic, fast-moving environment for a motivated and quick-learning applicant to conduct policy impact activities and offers extensive communications and engagement support for Knowledge Mobilisation. Our work is intended to ensure societal benefit from research is realised, and we are looking forward to supporting the ARC-SL in their Knowledge Mobilisation activities. 

About the role

The successful candidate will be highly experienced in Knowledge Mobilisation (KM) activities in health and social care, and will have experience of managing large, complex projects. They will lead development and delivery of Knowledge Mobilisation strategy for the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration, South London (ARC-SL). They will be the point of contact for the National ARC KM Coordinating Centre (led by Manchester ARC), and collaborate with colleagues across the ARCs nationally. They will be expected to engage a wide range of stakeholders in health, policy and research roles through running impactful workshops, roundtables and other engagement activities. The role requires superb communication skills, and experience using a range of media to promote research findings to a wide audience. They will have significant research experience in relevant fields and methods, and will be expected to develop independent and collaborative research and evaluation projects. As Senior KM Fellow, the successful candidate will supervise the research and engagement activities of junior KM fellows in the ARC, and will be expected to be highly engaged in designing and delivering training and capacity building activities. This is an opportunity shape a programme of KM work and grow a successful team of KM fellows, requiring excellent working relationships and a commitment to helping people and projects succeed.  

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post. 

This post will be offered on a foxed term contract until  30/09/27 with a possibility of extension after this period.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • PhD qualified in relevant subject area, or equivalent experience
  • In depth knowledge and practice of Knowledge Mobilisation
  • Evidence of active participation in the planning and conduct of Knowledge Mobilisation and Implementation research or evaluation projects
  • The ability to communicate effectively with health and care practitioners, patients and public and with academic community
  • Enthusiasm for working across boundaries in a unique project
  • Experience of designing and conducting a Knowledge Mobilisation or implementation project or a Knowledge Mobilisation /implementation component of a research project, using a range of research methods
  • A strong record of academic or policy publication
  • Experience of working in health and care setting
  • Experience of project management

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of further training or study in Knowledge Mobilisation, Implementation and Evaluation
  • Knowledge of (local) health and care landscape and policy
  • Experience of design and delivery of training /capacity building
