The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Data Manager to assist with the collection of data from patients with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia treated on the international clinical trial ALLTogether01 which recruits patients across Europe.

You will work as a member of the Leukaemia Research Cytogenomics Group (LRCG) in the Newcastle Translational & Clinical Research Institute at Newcastle University under the guidance of Professor Anthony Moorman and Mr Tim Newton. The Data Manager will work as part of a data management team which takes responsibility for the day-to-day management of the LRCG data collection service. This involves (1) managing and updating clinical trial datasets; (2) collecting and entering complex genetic data for ongoing clinical trials and other studies; (3) ensuring that all the relevant governance documentation is in place. The Data Manager will also assist other members of the group and external collaborators in collating data for their research projects.

The post is part of the Cancer Research UK (CRUK) CYP Data Award entitled "ALLTogether for Research (A2G4R) Knowledge Hub" award to Professor Moorman. The overall aim of the programme is to explore the genomic landscape of acute leukaemia and its association with clinical outcome. To achieve this goal, we need collect genomic data from across the participating and link that data with the centrally held clinical data. You will work closely with internal and external collaborators who are experts in the biology and treatment of childhood and adult leukaemia to build a unique dataset to identify biomarkers and help improve the outcome of patients with acute leukaemia.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic translational research group with a track record of improving patient diagnosis and management. You will have the opportunity to develop their data management expertise, learn new skills and progress to the next stage of their career. You will have a BSc/MSc in a relevant discipline or relevant experience handling medical or biological data.

This appointment is offered part-time 29.6 hours (0.8 FTE) on a fixed term basis for 1 year.
