The Role


This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, international, multidisciplinary team working in the area of translational research for neuromuscular diseases within the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre at Newcastle University.

This exciting role will take responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of all data aspects related to the Adult SMA Reach network including overseeing the computerised database for the capture (including electronic remote data capture and randomisation systems) and the management of data within the study.

You will be responsible for the design, set-up and management of computerised database for the capture (including electronic remote data capture and randomisation systems) and the management of data within this study. You will be responsible for identifying and establishing processes to ensure the highest level of data integrity, ensuring data is suitable for statistical analyses and for undertaking statistical analyses with the data from the Adult SMA Reach Study. These systems and data will meet the quality standards expected for reporting to regulatory bodies and in accordance with all applicable legislation and Good Clinical Practice guidelines.

Further to this, you will lead a review of John Walton Muscular Dystrophy approaches to data management and data security to develop good practice model supported by clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for data management in a team that must comply with both Newcastle University and Newcastle upon Tyne Hospital Trust data management policies. 

You will hold a degree qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent relevant experience in a senior role. You will have experience of data management and standard statistical analysis and may be looking for an opportunity to specialize in specific disease area. You will have knowledge and hand-on experience of statistical software and clinical data management systems. You will be proactive, attention to detail and possess excellent organisational skills, with proven ability to manage resources effectively and deliver results on time. Flexibility and willingness to travel and work across two sites (Newcastle and North Tess Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts) will also be required for this role. 

This position is available on a full time (37 hours per week), fixed term basis, to start immediately until December 2026.
