The role
Bristol Institute for Learning and Teaching seeks to appoint a Lecturer (Academic Development) focused on inclusion. The role, full time from August 2025, will contribute to the university’s activities to widen participation and to ensure all our students, whatever their background and characteristics can equally engage with and demonstrate their learning.
What will you be doing?
Appointment to this position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a programme of work to develop and deliver training and support to enhance inclusive learning, teaching and assessment across the institution. The role will lead staff development interventions with a particular focus on improving: completion and attainment for mature students; attainment for students with a low-socioeconomic background; and attainment for global majority students. The role will work with a range of students in hackathon-type events and engage with teaching staff to inform the staff development interventions, which will range from training, guidance, case studies and support in (re)designing teaching and assessment.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of designing and delivering staff development interventions, particularly with a focus on inclusivity. They will possess a deep understanding of the higher education learning environment in the UK and will be passionate about teaching and learning and enhancing the student experience. The candidate will be recognised as either an HEA Fellow or HEA Senior Fellow
