Research Assistant - University of Edinburgh Careers
The Opportunity:
The Vale lab is advertising a 4-year Research Assistant position, funded by a BBSRC grant on the genetic and immune determinants and evolutionary constraints underlying individual variation in host infectiousness.
This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Experience and extensive knowledge of Drosophila rearing and genetics
- Knowledge and previous experience in basic microbiology protocols, including the protocols of culturing, infecting, and quantifying bacterial pathogens.
- Ability to manage and organise own time including prioritization of tasks within agreed work schedule
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to build rapport with colleagues and collaborators.
- Understanding of the Health & Safety procedures, and safe lab practice.
