The role
Bristol University Press is an award-winning international publisher of social science books and journals based at the University of Bristol with a strong mission to make a difference with our publications.
An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, flexible Marketing Executive/Coordinator – trade publicity to join our team as maternity cover on a part-time (21 hours/60% FTE) fixed-term contract until April 2026 or the earlier return of the postholder.
This is a hybrid role working in our Bristol office at least two days a week including Thursdays
What will you be doing?
You will take responsibility for marketing groups of titles and related journals in a specific subject area, liaising with authors and editors, including the books in digital campaigns including online events and planning and implementing exhibits at conferences and launches. You will also provide publicity support to the Marketing Manager for our growing list of trade titles, including:

The job will suit a great communicator, organiser and decision-maker with experience of design software including InDesign and Canva.
You will be an excellent team player used to delivering to tight deadlines. Great copywriting and proof-reading skills are also essential.
A marketing qualification is desired but an understanding of marketing academic and trade books is essential.
The role is being advertised at two grades: candidates with experience of publicity for trade books will be strongly preferred and may be appointed at the higher grade level.
