About the Role
A 3-year BBSRC/UKRI-funded position is available in the laboratory of the Senior Lecturer in Computational Biology at Blizard Institute. The successful applicant will be part of a collaborative project between Blizard Institute and ICR focusing on investigating how gene expression is controlled in mammalian genomes. In particular, they will develop new explainable and black box AI models (e.g., Wolfe et al., 2021) to elucidate the functional role of different epigenetic modifications at enhancers and they will closely collaborate with other computational and wet lab researchers within the project and lab.

About You
We seek an ambitious and self-motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in bioinformatics and/or computer sciences (or related fields). Experience with AI and Machine Learning models in epigenetics is essential. In addition, experience with analysing and integrating different omics datasets (3D chromatin organisation, TF binding profiles and transcriptomics) together with experience on mouse and human enhancer annotation is desirable. A track record of effective communication, teamwork and successful project management is essential.

The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

*PhD candidates who have not yet received their PhD award, including candidates who have completed their oral exam and are in the process of corrections (minor or substantial), will be appointed at £37,889 until they can provide a copy of the formal award letter or award certificate, at which point their salary will increase to £41,510.
