Applicants are invited to apply for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Politics and International Relations, to a member of Associate Professor Lauren Sukin’s research group, with responsibility for carrying out a programme of research examining the effects of political polarisation on nuclear strategy and policy.
The successful applicant will work on academic research that relies extensively on survey data and work with interview data, historical case studies, cross-national and sub-national data, and the literature related to this programme of research. You will also be expected to contribute to co-authored publications in top quality peer-reviewed academic journals and will also have the opportunity to propose solo-authored publications under the programme of research for publication in top quality peer-reviewed academic journals.
In addition, you will provide guidance to junior members of the research group including research assistants, PhD students, and/or project volunteers.
You will hold or be close to completion of a relevant PhD/DPhil in Political Science, International Relations, or a related discipline and have the ability to manage your own academic research and associated activities and the ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation, together with previous experience of contributing to publications/presentations. The knowledge of statistics and programming in R is essential.
The position is a full time and fixed-term position for 12 months, starting from 1 October 2025.
