About the role
This position focuses on teaching, learning and assessment in the medical undergraduate curriculum. A key responsibility of this position is to lead the BSMS mentor programme which involves registrars supporting 4th year medical students. The post-holder will support all years of medical students in the personal and professional development (PPD) module, and on clinical placement appropriate to their specialty, as well as with other forms of teaching and supervision. The post-holder will lead the careers week for students in years 2-4. The post holder will contribute to our admissions process and teach on our Teacher Support Course (TIME). We expect that this post holder will lead a Student Selected Component within the undergraduate curriculum. The post holder will support the roll out of Sofia curriculum mapping software to the students. The post holder will contribute to admissions interviews, standard setting, writing knowledge tests and OSCEs.
It is hoped that the post holder will undertake medical education research either focusing on a novel project or collaborating with existing projects in the group. There is also the opportunity to apply curriculum development and assessment theories in practice, for example decolonising the curriculum, mapping the curriculum or changing assessment methods in particular areas.
The department would offer the postholder the opportunity to complete three funded, postgraduate modules or equivalent towards a postgraduate qualification in education as part of these roles.
