The role

The GW4 Alliance (GW4) is looking for an experienced research professional to join us as a Research Culture Officer. We are a consortium of four of the most research-intensive and innovative universities in the UK: Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter. Collaboration sits at the very heart of the GW4 Alliance. Working with other organisations, industry, and society, we aim to enhance research collaboration; address global, societal, and industrial challenges; and inform policy at national and international levels.

The key objective for the role is to  lead the GW4 Research Culture programme, a newly identified strategic priority for GW4, which aims to position GW4 universities as sector leaders in research culture change.

What will you be doing?

Reporting to the GW4 Talent and Skills Manager, you will:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of GW4 Research Culture activities.
  • Work collaboratively with senior academic Research culture leads and professional services teams to identify and analyse research culture activities at GW4 universities to surface strategic priorities for collaborative working.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of a continually evolving and improving programme of research culture activities for academic, professional services and technical staff that address key areas of interest, including research integrity and reproducibility, open access, and research infrastructure sustainability.
  • Support cross-university steering groups and working groups to coordinate and inform strategy and planning activity, ensuring high quality and fit-for-purpose schemes that complement the institutional provision of GW4 universities.

You should apply if

  • As an alliance of four research-intensive universities, the successful candidate will need proven partnership skills to develop highly effective collaborative working relationships across a range of stakeholders and at all levels of the institutions.
