The role
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a UK-wide research programme, as part of a team (across Bristol and Edinburgh) that built a new data architecture for the UKs Chief Scientific Advisor during the Covid-19 pandemic. The UK Longitudinal Linkage Collaboration (UK LLC) is a research platform that provides a secure computing environment to systematically link study participant’s data to their health, social and environmental records. The team has received funding to sustain and expand the resource. This is an ideal role for people with data programming skills and an interest in supporting the research community to utilise the resource, for example through working groups. You will be responsible for understanding, curating and providing technical advice for data analyses of a suit of novel and exciting NHS mental health data and surveys and administrative data from DWP and HMRC incorporating for example receipt of benefits, income and earnings. You will work with wide range of external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment, whilst always working to the highest level of UK Information Governance Standards.
What will you be doing?
You will lead the support framework for expert researchers, providing bespoke guidance and advice to Longitudinal Population Studies’ (LPS) data managers, writing complex technical documentation for new and evolving processes and datasets, and carrying out data processing/descriptive analyses to develop novel understanding, which will be published on GitHub or pre-print publications. Supporting the research community through working groups to share knowledge and maximise the functionality of these data for research for public good.
You should apply if
You are qualified and experienced in working with a variety of complex data types, and the application of a variety of statistical packages and coding approaches. You enjoy applying these skills to new scenarios and solving problems whilst developing new methods and approaches as well as improving existing ones. You have excellent communication skills, an interest in customer liaison, and enjoy working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with an enthusiastic and diverse team.
