About the role
We are looking for a specialist trainee in radiology, oncology or surgery to become directly involved with clinical and pre-clinical research in the field of device-mediated immunomodulation for cancer therapy and to further their development towards a career as an independent academic clinician.
You will be working under the direct supervision of Dr. Paul Lyon and Prof. Constantin Coussios on the development of tumour targeted cavitation-based therapies using Focused Ultrasound, including novel systemically administered stimulus-responsive particles, with the potential for immune system stimulation. You will be directly responsible for pre-clinical and clinical research aimed at achieving a clinical trial in ultrasound-mediated immunomodulation. There may also be the opportunity to become involved in other trials of ablative and non-ablative therapies and isolated hepatic perfusion.
About you
You will have a medical degree, have completed foundation training and will hold a national training number in radiology, oncology or surgery. You are expected to have had some clinical exposure to minimally and non-invasive ablative therapies and to have demonstrated an interest in interventional oncology or interventional radiology, as evidenced through previous pre-clinical and clinical research contributions in the form of peer-reviewed journal publications or conference presentations. Experience in clinical trial design and/or previous contribution to oncology or interventional radiology clinical trials would be highly desirable.
This full-time post is available immediately from 28th April 2025 and is fixed-term for three years, with the expectation of in-person working.
