Applications are invited from suitably qualified Dental Therapists for the position of Teaching Fellow in Dental Therapy at the Institute of Dentistry located within Aberdeen Dental Hospital. This role will be ideal for a skilled Dental Therapist who would like to expand their clinical repertoire by teaching and favourably influencing the education of the next generation of dental students. The position is available as 0.6 Full time equivalent i.e. three days per week. Opportunities to work on a term-time only basis (41 weeks per year) will be possible for the successful applicant, at their request. Teaching sessions will be timetabled to complement existing timetabled Clinical Skills Teaching Room and Student Clinic sessions which follow a regular weekly pattern.

The postholder will inspire learning and skills development in the clinical skills simulation room and student clinics in a proficient manner to optimise patient care. The successful candidate will be supported in their role by experienced academic, clinical and professional services support colleagues within the Institute, NHS Grampian and the wider University.

The postholder will support the delivery of the BDS dental curriculum within the Periodontal and Operative disciplines and have responsibility for the development and delivery of teaching in Dental Hygiene and Therapy.

You will have a particular focus on delivery of face to face, practical and online teaching within our Clinical Skills teaching area and supervision of students in our student clinics at the Institute of Dentistry and Aberdeen Dental Hospital. As well as developing and giving practical lectures, you will assist with assessment, student support, teaching initiatives, pastoral support and teaching administration.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Teaching Fellow scale for University of Aberdeen Academic staff, grade 6, 60% of £38,249 - £45,413 per annum, pro rata, and negotiable according to qualifications and experience.
