The School of Computing at the University of Portsmouth is seeking to appoint a motivated researcher to join an interdisciplinary Computing Research Accelerator Team ("CREATE"), established to enhance research and innovation capacity in the School, focusing on stimulating real-world impact from our research and increasing our capability for generating external research and innovation income.
You will be working on development projects across expertise areas in the School, including applications of AI, robotics and data science in health, business and cybersecurity, leading to external funding applications.
This is an exciting opportunity if you are enthusiastic and driven to explore diverse research areas with established research leaders in the School, expand your knowledge base and skillset, and, importantly, contribute to making a meaningful impact on society.
Collaborating closely with School academics, you will engage on a variety of research development projects to generate ideas, data, and results leading to applications for research grants. You will also support case studies demonstrating real-world impact from our existing research and innovation activities. You will participate in research networking events, disseminate your work nationally and internationally, and contribute to the School’s research culture.
The University of Portsmouth is an ambitious institution with a strong track record of success. We are ranked in the top 150 in the Times Higher Young University World Rankings. The School has a vigorous and expanding research profile with an international reputation for our interdisciplinary work, particularly in health informatics, AI, machine learning, robotics and cybersecurity. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework, 75% of our research outputs were ranked as world leading or internationally excellent. We are ranked #5 for Computer Science and Informatics among modern universities in the UK.
You will have attained a PhD in a relevant area or have equivalent professional experience and should, ideally, also have experience with relevant datasets and applications.
PLEASE NOTE! You can apply for multiple posts (at the corresponding different grades). You must explain in your covering letter which posts you wish to be considered for. Appointment will be made to the post commensurate with your level of experience.
