About the role

This is an outstanding development opportunity for a talented individual who wishes to advance excellent and innovative research in palliative and end-of-life care, with a particular emphasis on research that has impact on patients, carers and wider society.

It is one of three new posts set up and deliver a new Impact Centre for palliative and end of life care at the Cicely Saunders Institute.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Grade 6

Essential

  • PhD qualified in relevant subject area *
  • Track record of peer-review publication and presentations that demonstrate international excellence or are world-leading in terms of originality, rigour, and significance in areas relevant to this role 
  • Demonstrates commitment to, and experience of, impact focused research and education 
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate with diverse audiences including patients, practitioners, the public and policy makers 
  • Ability to work well as an effective and inclusive member of teams and networks and to share and encourage good practice in research, teaching and dissemination activities, to inspire and motivate others, including in challenging environments 
  • Demonstrates a commitment to promote equality, diversity and inclusivity for staff and students         

* Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered.

Desirable

  • Evidence of ability to secure research grant funding, demonstrated by previous experience or track record, involvement in research active teams, responsibilities, plans, awareness of funding schemes relevant to Faculty research themes 
  • Evidence of continued development in research methods in health services or clinical research, with increasing expertise in specific areas relevant to the Faculty (e.g. evidence synthesis, statistics, implementation science, co-design, trial designs, mixed methods study designs and patient and public involvement) 
  • Experience of the planning and delivering high-quality evaluated education at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels with a strong focus on a high-quality inclusive student experience and success 

Grade 7
