Applications are invited for the above post based within the School of Biosciences at the Sutton Bonington Campus.
The role holder will be responsible for planning and overseeing the day-to-day running of a work area, preparing, and allocating resources, and providing supervision, guidance and instruction in the use of equipment and techniques to staff/students in the areas of food materials science, and food processing teaching and research. The role holder will be responsible for the upkeep of a designated work area, as well as maintenance of equipment and preparation of materials. The role will be required to support other areas within the school where skills and techniques of the role holder could be shared and/or utilised, or where routine technical support is required.

Candidates must have a minimum of HNC in Food Sciences or relevant subject, or equivalent qualifications plus substantial work experience in a relevant in a relevant role. Candidates should be able to demonstrate examples of knowledge and practical experience of food processing techniques, material science and physicochemical characterisation techniques.
Experience of working within Food, nutrition and dietetics laboratories and/or within food production facilities and an understanding of the requirements for working at ACDP Containment level 2 would be desirable.
This is a fixed-term, full time post (36.25 hours per week) until 2 February 2026, which will be reviewed in Jan 2026 and the position is available from 1st March 2025. Job share arrangements may be considered. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
