Join Birkbeck, University of London, as an Associate Lecturer delivering the module 'Digital Journalism' to our postgraduate students this Summer.
As Associate Lecturer, within the School of Creative Arts, Culture & Communication, you will teach:
• Digital Journalism
• 30 contact hours; 10 teaching days
• Fixed-term contract April - August 2025.
This is an academic module covering the theoretical, historical and professional aspects of digital journalism.
To succeed as Associate Lecturer you will be well-versed in the study and practice of digital journalism, including changes to professional journalistic cultures, the role of audiences in digital media, social media and platforms, recent developments in the news industries, as well as AI, VR and the challenges posed by mis/disinformation.
The work would require 30 contact hours of teaching as well as organisation, communication with students, student support, and assessment marking.

Remuneration:
Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £68.13 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
