Are you passionate about the structures and workings of the European Union? Or the basic practices of criminal law? If so Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking an Associate Tutor to teach within Birkbeck's Law School this year.
As Associate Tutor you would teach across seven foundational law subjects, with a particular focus on:
As Associate Tutor within Birkbeck's Law School, you will gain valuable experience in leading seminars, facilitating discussion amongst students, dealing with their queries on the materials during the sessions, and supporting learning through marking feedback.
To be successful, you will have the relevant specialist legal knowledge to teach on the above law modules and you will be qualified with an LLM (or related postgraduate degree) with either an LLB (or similar qualification that covers the seven foundations of legal knowledge,) or, equivalent professional experience.
You will also have demonstrable expertise and experience in the field related to the subject of the seminars, and excellent communication skills.
Please refer to the person specification for further selection criteria. You will normally have upgraded to PhD registration at Birkbeck and teaching experience is desirable but not essential.

Remuneration
Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £59.91 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked.
This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 6 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
