Job Description
We're looking for a skilled technician to bring their expertise to our sculpture workshops. In this role, you'll demonstrate specialist techniques and practical processes, helping to support academic delivery, student learning, research, and enterprise activities. As part of a collaborative team, you'll ensure that our specialist equipment and work areas are well-maintained and available for use. You'll also play a key role in guiding and assisting students and staff, sharing your technical knowledge and expertise to bring creative ideas to life.
About the Role
You will share your expertise in complex sculpture techniques, supporting students across a range of programmes through hands-on demonstrations and guidance. You will prepare learning resources and promotional materials, ensuring students have the tools they need to bring their ideas to life.
In addition, you'll help maintain a safe and well-organized workshop environment by conducting risk assessments, keeping records, and overseeing the upkeep of specialist equipment, sculpture stores, and studio spaces.
About You
Experience in Sculpture production is essential for this role, including fabrication in various materials including casting in plaster; resin; fibreglass; and other materials.
You will have the ability to anticipate and respond to the needs of workshop users, ensuring the smooth operation of daily and planned activities.
You will have a proactive approach to workshop maintenance, development, and health and safety compliance.
Additional information
This is an annualised hours contract, working a total of 964.5 hours per year (including holiday entitlement)
Some evening and weekend working may be required
