Research Associate

A position is available for a Research Associate to work on a project funded by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship, entitled “Informing precision psychiatry through developing comprehensive genomic models of mental health disorders”. This project focusses on analysing whole exome sequencing and whole genome sequencing datasets generated from large schizophrenia samples. A key objective of the project is to identify rare genetic variants contributing to phenotypes that are linked to poor outcomes in schizophrenia, such as cognitive impairment and poor response to antipsychotic treatment. The post will involve extensive collaboration with national and international research partners and also with industry.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), available from 1 March 2025 and fixed term until 4 October 2027, based at the Hadyn Ellis Building, Cathays campus

Salary: £40,497 - £45,413 per annum (Grade 6). Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.

The majority of roles at Cardiff University are currently operating under “blended working” arrangements, with staff having the flexibility to work partly from home and partly from the University campus depending on specific business requirements. Discussions around these arrangements can take place after the successful candidate has been appointed.
