Elevate Your Career with Industry Giants! Dive into a unique role where the latest technological advancements meet advanced manufacturing. The University of Sheffield AMRC, a top-tier research institution, together with Boeing, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of commercial aircraft, offers an exceptional chance to help shape the future of Subtractive Processes in Machining through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership.
The successful candidate will be employed by the University but will spend the majority of their time based at Boeing UK’s Sheffield facility - the first Boeing manufacturing facility in Europe and their Industry 4.0 flagship facility. During this partnership, you will hold a key role in progressing the uptake of novel subtractive machining technologies, working closely with key collaborators in the UK and internationally. Support will be provided by a dedicated technology expert from the AMRC’s Machining Group, based out of the Factory of the Future (a stone’s throw from Boeing Sheffield).
We are looking for someone who isn’t afraid of challenging “the norm”, perhaps with experience in implementing novel technology in manufacturing processes, maybe in an industrial context, but such experience isn’t essential. You might have been working in a related role already or maybe recently completed a higher degree in an engineering or related field, again this is not essential. But what is vital is the desire to take ownership of a 2.5-year project, becoming a driving force for developing new solutions for Boeing Sheffield, making the most of the extensive research and innovation knowledge that exists both at the AMRC and in Boeing.
