The post

Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, Psychology wishes to recruit an Expert-by-Experience to support the work of the Mental Health Mission (MHM) a government-funded program that aims to increase mental health research in the UK. This funding body funded post is available from April 2025 to January 2028. The successful applicant will be recruited as a Co-ordinator to help shape and lead on the PPIE (Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement) for the depression theme of the mission.

This job is designed for applicants who would consider themselves Experts-by-Experience.

The post will include:

  • Co-ordinate MHM project allocation and division across PPIE members
  • To co-ordinate and develop a larger PPIE network that connects with the various research projects that sit within the depression theme of the MHM
  • To engage different groups to improve diversity, and expand core membership
  • Supporting the FoA (Friends of AccEPT) Steering Group
  • Together with the MHM lead keep the Steering Group up to date on the PPIE initiatives happening across the mission, and the involvement of those with a lived experience.

About you

The successful applicant must be an Expert by Experience. Experiences could include mental health challenges, disabilities (e.g. physical or sensory, or be registered as disabled).

Candidates must hold either a high-level qualification relevant to or be able to demonstrate high level core knowledge of how to work with and support Experts by Experience. This may be evidenced by a project that they have been involved in delivering, or some other involvement.

You should have sufficient breadth or depth of specialist theoretical and procedural knowledge of working with Experts by Experience (EbE), as well as being skilled in developing networks and managing complex relationships.
