About the role

Oxford University Museum of Natural History is recruiting an experienced Exhibitions Officer to work within our exhibitions team during an exciting year. The Exhibitions Officer will work within the exhibition and interpretation team and will be involved in developing temporary exhibitions and delivering public events programming.

The Exhibitions Officer will be responsible for project managing identified exhibitions in the Museum’s ‘Contemporary Science and Society’ series. In 2025/6 this will include an exhibition focused on the reliance on minerals and natural resources in modern life. It will spotlight the latest Earth Sciences research, looking at alternative sources of minerals, as well as innovative technologies to allow extraction to occur more sustainably and ethically.

The Exhibitions Officer will also be responsible for coordinating and delivering a full programme of events and activities to complement the current exhibition, Breaking Ground.

This is a fixed-term post for one year, working 37.5 hours per week. Part time applications will be considered.

This role will involve manual handling.

Due to the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) due to access to museum collections.

About You

The successful candidate will have demonstrable interest in natural history, science and evolution, and a track record of developing and delivering exhibitions and associated programming on time and on budget. In addition to experience working in partnerships, the post-holder will require strong diplomatic skills and excellent digital skills.
