Salary: Standard grade 8: salary in range £48,235 - £57,255 p.a. This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,500 per year

This post provides an opportunity for a Programme Manager to join a newly established Oxford-GSK strategic partnership focused on biostatistics and artificial intelligence for application in medicine. Led by Professor Chris Holmes and based in Oxford’s Big Data Institute, the partnership will bring together expertise in statistics, mathematics, engineering and AI from across the University to work with industry scientists on key thematic areas. 

As Programme Manager you will be responsible for coordinating the multidisciplinary projects and development of data platforms under the programme. You will develop a thorough working knowledge of research capabilities and activities across the partnerships, establishing excellent working relationships with senior researchers within the University and GSK, and acting as a main point of contact for the programme. You will liaise with departmental administration teams to manage the programme’s budget, including to monitor expenditure and reallocation of resources as agreed by the leadership team.  You will keep also accurate records of research activity under the programme including outputs such as publications, external funding leveraged and intellectual property generated. 

It is essential that you hold a degree in in biostatistics/health data science/biomedicine or other relevant area and have extensive experience in strategic and operational management of complex scientific projects within a specific functional area. You will have significant project management experience of projects with multi-million-pound budgets, with a proven track-record of planning and controlling projects to ensure the timely delivery within budget. You will be highly organised with the ability to manage a vast amount of relatively complex information and to prioritise activities across a portfolio of projects with competing deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate effectively to a high standard, both orally and in writing, and well as being capable of working efficiently in a multidisciplinary team and with a wide variety of people across the University, are essential for this role.
