We (Queen Mary Students’ Union) are a democratic, membership-led charity that exists to improve students’ lives.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to lead an inclusive and engaging recreational sports programme that enhances student experience.
The Students’ Union supports over 28,000 students who make up the diverse and vibrant student body at Queen Mary University of London.
The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to accessibility, student well-being, and the promotion of sport as a positive and inclusive opportunity for all.
In this role, you will develop and deliver a diverse range of recreational sports activities, including weekly sessions, social leagues, skills-building workshops, and large-scale events like sports festivals and taster sessions. You will also oversee community-focused initiatives, such as low-cost children’s sports camps that provide students with valuable coaching experience.
Collaboration will be key as you work with student clubs, societies, and external partners to create a welcoming and supportive environment. You will also manage budgets, ensure safety and compliance, and track programme impact through data and feedback.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a direct impact on student well-being, helping them get active, build confidence, and foster a sense of community at QMUL.
This is a full-time, permanent position. The starting salary will be £32,804 per annum pro-rata, inclusive of the London Allowance, with annual raises by one point as set out in the QMUL Pay and Grading Structure. Benefits include 30 days of annual leave plus university closure days and bank holidays, a pension scheme, free gym membership, 20% off in our outlets, and an interest-free TFL/Railway season ticket loan. The role is predominantly in person, with some opportunities to work from home. Please contact us if you would like to discuss this further.
QMSU is a great place to learn and develop your career. You will have access to excellent training opportunities and will work with people who are excited to share their knowledge and help you learn new skills.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required, this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points-Based Immigration Scheme.
QMSU is proud to be an Equal Opportunities employer, and we are committed to equality of opportunity for all applicants regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability status, class, or any other dimension of diversity. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability. We particularly welcome applications from Black and minority ethnic candidates, as this group is currently underrepresented within the Union.
