The Faculty of Arts & Humanities is distinctive in representing academic excellence across a diverse range of disciplines, from longer established disciplines such as Philosophy, Classics, and English, to more recently established fields including Digital Humanities and Film. Located in the heart of London, the Faculty enjoys close ties with globally significant cultural institutions such as the British Museum, Shakespeare’s Globe, and the National Portrait Gallery. Its more than 400 Postdoctoral Research students (PGR) are an integral part of the Faculty’s research environment, contributing to its vitality and innovative outlook. 

About the role

The Senior PGR Manager is responsible for coordinating all PGR support across 11 departments and will work to support the community of PhD students and their supervisors, liaising across the College as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.  

The role holder will be expected to maintain up-to-date awareness of  PGR considerations across the UK HE sector and to apply this knowledge in all that they do. They will play a key role in driving forward the continuous improvement agenda, improving processes, enhancing the PGR experience and developing effective new initiatives in line with Faculty and College Strategy. They will line manage the Senior PGR Officer and have oversight of the work of colleagues based in departmental cluster offices, working with Heads of Operations as well as the Associate Dean for Doctoral Studies.  They will oversee the efficient and timely administration (including record-keeping) of the Faculty’s PGR funding schemes and provide proactive support for senior staff securing studentship funding. They will also oversee and coordinate where appropriate (in collaboration with the Doctoral College) any training and development opportunities for all PGR students in the faculty, including any CDT / DTP cohorts. They will act as the first point of support for all CDT / DTP teams.

This post will be offered on a full-time, indefinite contract.
