About the Role
The role involves contacting research participants and collecting clinical specimens and data. Duties include assisting in preparing plasma from blood and storing and cataloguing. The post-holder will be expected to independently collect and catalogue plasma samples, maintain stocks and preparation material for experimentation. The work will be based at the Royal London Hospital and Blizard Institute within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL).
About You
Candidates must have experience of working within the NHS or hospital environment, knowledge of laboratory procedures, materials, equipment, and good understanding of Health & Safety regulations and procedures. Candidates will need experience dealing with patients/public, the ability to liaise effectively across a range of cultural groups / enterprises, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively to a wide range to audiences. Demonstrable fluency in at least one relevant south Asian language (e.g. Sylheti/Bengali) is essential. Experience handling and processing clinical specimens is desirable, but training will be provided if required.
About the Institute
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.
